Occhio new horizons Luna series overview

Occhio makes a clear statement as a global player at Milan Design Week 2023

Milan, April 2023

At Milan Design Week 2023, Occhio celebrates the future of light with 'new horizons – an immersive experience', located in the glass pavilion of the legendary Villa Necchi Campiglio, right in the heart of the city. Visitors can expect a unique presentation: the perfect stage to showcase Occhio's vision of a new culture of light. The European innovation leader thus makes a powerful statement in the international environment of the design metropolis and thus takes the next step on the path of constant internationalisation.

‘new horizons – an immersive experience’

Right in the centre of Milan, just a few minutes' walk from the street of light – the Corso Monforte –, the historic Villa Necchi Campiglio with its expansive gardens is a peaceful oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city and the perfect setting for the extravagant work of art from Occhio. Occhio has captured the magic of this place to focus visitors' full attention on the unique, multisensory show involving abstract product presentation. The installation is a transcendental space that becomes an unforgettable experience for all the senses. Created as a total work of art, 'new horizons' is a brand-new, holistic experience of Occhio's culture of light.

'For me, light is pure emotion. With 'new horizons', we have created an experience that is dedicated to precisely this feeling. An installation in which people can experience the deep emotions that light evokes', says Axel Meise, Occhio founder and designer.

'new horizons' demonstrates the company's undeniable ability for innovation and symbolises the new, the unknown.  Occhio never considers the ambition to innovate, the departure towards the new, as a completed goal, but as an incentive, a mission and part of its entrepreneurial DNA.

“The Villa Necchi Campiglio continually inspires me to seek 'new horizons'. This place embodies what humans are able to technically and aesthetically create when they strive towards a vision of an ideal living space. The villa is an expression of the utmost sophistication. Being able to present our idea of a new culture of light on this stage is a unique opportunity to make our concept fully tangible', says Axel Meise.

a new culture of light

All of this pays off in the corporate philosophy of ‘a new culture of light’. ‘a new culture of light' is the overarching vision. An expression of cultural, aesthetic and technical progress - to be experienced through the interplay of outstanding design, unique lighting quality and 'joy of use' at the highest level. An enrichment of the quality of life. By means of light, people become designers of their own living space - of their well-being. Because light means quality of life.

On the way to becoming an international market leader

In recent years, Milan Design Week has become more meaningful on a global basis than ever before – for Occhio, it is therefore a matter of course to use this event to bring its vision of a new culture of light closer to the world public. The company is presenting itself as a leading European innovator with an immersive installation at the Villa Necchi Campiglio, thereby giving the brand global reach, solidifying its position in the European market and accelerating its entry into other markets such as China – new horizons!

The Occhio store in Milan opened in 2021 and was the first flagship store outside Germany and is the hub of lighting expertise for southern Europe.

A further milestone on the path towards the company's globalisation was the opening of the Occhio flagship store in Shanghai in early 2022. As well as being an important strategic step, this primarily demonstrated the company's dynamic growth trajectory and contributed significantly to the positioning of Occhio as a ‘luxury love brand’. 'With a strong presence in one of the world's most important global metropolies, we are making a clear statement as an international player. For us, the location is a crucial starting point for accessing the Asian market', says Axel Meise, Occhio founder and designer.

The flagship stores in London and Amsterdam are due to open soon, and the company already has locations in Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin.
